In 2005 Peter commenced a senior leadership role with the Manly Sea Eagles National Rugby League Team, its Head Coach and elite players. The leadership culture and thinking was one part of the organisation’s strategy resulting in NRL Premierships in 2008 and 2011. Seven NRL Final Series in a row and a World Club Challenge win in 2009, Peter’s Leadership expertise was of great value with the Head Coach and key players who had leadership responsibility.
For the 2010/2011 season Peter commenced a senior leadership role in the A-League with the Newcastle Jets Football Club working closely with the Head Coach and the players.
In 2014, Peter commenced his leadership consultancy with the South Sydney Rabbitohs Rugby League team. He worked closely with the Head Coach, Michael Maguire, the coaching staff and all the players. He drove and stimulated a strong team culture of accountability and fostered the leadership potential of all the players and coaching staff. The South Sydney Rabbitohs won their first NRL Premiership in 43 years in 2014 and then went on to win the Auckland 9’s and the World Club Challenge in 2015.
On the back of Peters 2014 success with the Rabbitohs, the Australian Women’s Football Team, The Matilda’s, signed Peter in 2015 to aid them in their preparation for the World Cup in Canada. He worked intensely with Alen Stajcic, the coaching staff and all the players to develop a winning team culture and developing the leadership potential of every individual on the team. The Matilda’s went on to achieve the best result to date of any Australian team in a World Cup – male or female – making it to the Quarter Finals, only going down to Japan by one goal in the 87th minute of the game.
In September 2018, Peter was brought in by the Head Coach of the New Zealand Rugby League Team, Michael Maguire, to assist him to achieve the vision of a November 2021 World Cup victory.
In November 2018, Peter was also invited by the Head Coach of Wests Tigers NRL Team, Michael Maguire to work alongside him and his coaching staff to build a winning team culture and to grow leadership thinking and behaviours.
In April 2024, Peter was appointed as the Leadership Consultant of the NSW State of Origin team by the Head Coach, Michael Maguire. Peter was part of the High Performance Unit of the Blues, one piece of the jigsaw puzzle to help the team achieve a historic victory over Queensland, the third time in 45 years, NSW have won a decider in Queensland territory.
In 1990 Don transitioned his military skills of strategic planning, effective communication and resilience within high pressure situations into his career in professional sport as a Strength and Conditioning specialist which morphed into the role of Head of High Performance in 2 NRL clubs from 2000 to 2022.
This transformative power of effective leadership to drive peak performance resulted in Singe overseeing these clubs’ physical and competitive resilience programs to four Grand Finals, two Premierships, and one World Club Cup.
Singe also headed up several successful campaigns for the NZ Rugby League International team, won a Four Nations title, served on the Samoa and Cook Islands National teams, and campaigned for an Australian Junior Wimbledon title.
Don currently holds high-performance positions with NZ Rugby League and the NRL.
A leadership template is tailored to the individual needs of each of our clients, whether it is a team or an individual.
The development of the leader within the individual is the prime focus and this creates a desire to lead, increasing the level of influence with team mates around them both on and off the playing field.
The number one characteristic to lead is Influence – Follow Me.
This process is as a group or one on one and, having Peter or Donny as an outside influence who is respected as a leader, results in a change in thinking.
If your thinking doesn’t change nothing changes and in professional sport, mental preparation is as important as physical preparation.
Conducting Group Sessions discussing key leadership principles to nurture and empower not only an individual player but the team as a whole, to lead and not follow.
Interaction fuels action and winning teams learn how to communicate honestly with each other, which raises the level of individual accountability in front of their team mates.
Effective teams have team mates who are constantly talking to one another and in a team environment communication is a key instrument of leadership. Communicating together means winning together because trust increases due to honesty and positive reinforcement from player to player.
The Leadership Group Sessions from a team perspective are of real value having an outside influence who is respected and who has earned the players’ trust – they will allow Peter to challenge their thinking on Leadership.
